What says ‘afternoon pick-me-up’ better than a glass of cold coffee? We’ve created 3 different cold coffee flavours that take less than 5 minutes for you to try as the temperature gets warmer out!

Classic Cold Coffee

I just love making cafe-style drinks – they’re a lot easier to make at home than you would think, save you from paying for overpriced coffee, and make your day a little bit more special. It can’t get better than this!

Love cold drinks? Try Chaas, Virgin Apple Iced Tea, Mango Lassi, White Wine Sangria and Watermelon Lime Smoothie

Cold coffee is extra close to my heart since I grew up drinking it. I think for a lot of us, cold coffee was our first taste of coffee, way back when we were younger. And it’s one of those drinks that you love just as much at any age – which means you can serve it for any occasion/get-together/play-date etc! I’ve shared 3 cold coffee recipe variations in this post, so that you can serve up something familiar yet impressive at the same time.

We’ll be making Classic Cold Coffee, Nutella Frappe, and Caramel Cold Coffee. Absolute bliss that’s ready within minutes.

  • This recipe is uber quick! It comes together in less than 5 minutes.
  • You only need a blender for this – easy clean up, no fuss!
  • All the ingredients are pantry friendly – no sudden grocery trips, you can make this anytime you’d like.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  1. For the base:
    • Milk – I recommend using full fat milk for this recipe for the best taste. You can also use dairy-free alternatives such as almond milk, cashew or oat milk.
    • Instant Coffee Powder or Coffee Decoction – Both work great for this, you can use whichever you prefer – based on how strong you like your coffee.
    • Sugar – White or brown sugar works best here. We want to use a neutral sweetener.
    • Ice Cubes – Key for getting a thick, frappe-like consistency! Do not skip or skimp on this!
    • Vanilla Ice Cream – For extra creaminess and sweetness, this is what makes the cold coffee over the top!
  2. Additions:
    • Nutella – for a nutty, chocolate-y cold coffee frappe!
    • Caramel Sauce – I keep the Hershey’s caramel sauce at home for all my caramel drizzle needs, adding this to cold coffee gives an instant cafe-style taste!

Richa’s Top Tips for Cold Coffee

  • Consistency: These cold coffee recipes are meant to be indulgent – thicker, creamier, sweeter than a simple cold coffee. We want a frappe-like consistency – a blended ice beverage where the ice is kept coarse and chunky for that thick texture common to cafe drinks.
  • Ice: The key to getting that frappe-like texture is using ice in the recipe. The ice breaks down into smaller fragments while blending with the rest of the ingredients. The key to achieving this is keeping an eye on the cold coffee as it blends! We do not want to keep blending it into a smooth mixture, turn off the blender with everything is just mixed together.
  • Coffee: I have added only 2 teaspoons of instant coffee powder as I do not like my coffee too strong. You can increase or decrease this according to your liking. You can also sub coffee powder with coffee decoction!
  • Sugar: I have added only 1 tablespoon of Sugar as I do not like my coffee too sweet. You can increase or decrease this according to your liking. You can sub sugar with your choice of sweetener like jaggery or coconut sugar!
  • Serving: Make sure to serve this immediately, so that the ice does not melt and dilute the drink. This drink can not be made ahead in time, but it comes together instantly so plan accordingly.
  • Additions: You can even modify this recipe with your favourite add ons! Add your favourite toppings using the Classic Cold Coffee as the base recipe.

Pro Tip: Replace sugar with 2 tablespoons of condensed milk to give it a creamy Vietnamese cold coffee twist!

These cold coffee recipes happen to be some of my favourite recipes because they’re perfect in so many different settings. When I’m working from home all day and my eyes start to close, I’m up just at the thought of having a cold coffee break. When I’m catching up with friends and it’s a hot day out, cold coffee is so much better than chai

I love drinking tea and coffee because I get to sit down and relax with my drink and have some moments of peace during an otherwise busy go-go-go lifestyle. And for this weather, a thick cold coffee is the way to go for my wind-down drink of choice.

Try these flavours out to bring some bliss into your day!
