Cooking Time of Common Foods Using the George Foreman Grill

The George Foreman Grill is a revolutionary grilling machine that was introduced in the market in 1994. It was named after George Foreman, a famous world-class boxing champion who fought the legendary Muhammad Ali, among others.

Many are thankful for the conception of the George Foreman Grill mainly because it changed and improved the way people cook their food. There has been a lot of good reviews about this product not only because of the flavor retention it promotes but because the cooking time for most common foods are really cut short.

For beef having the 1-inch thick cut, it normally takes about 4-9 minutes when doing covered grilling and 8-18 minutes if it’s uncovered grilling; for ground meat patties, it’s 5-7 minutes for covered grilling and 14-18 minutes for uncovered grilling; and for hot dogs, it usually takes 2 ½-6 minutes to cook them through. The minimum or maximum grilling time to consider all depends on whether you want your meat medium or medium rare in doneness.

For 4 ounces of half a chicken breast or thigh, it takes 4-6 minutes to cook for covered grilling and 12-15 minutes for uncovered grilling. 4 ounces of turkey breast tenderloin steak also cooks for 4-6 minutes when grilling covered and 8-12 minutes when grilling uncovered.

Boneless loin chop cooks for 4-5 minutes when cover-grilling and 7-9 minutes when grilling uncovered.

Shrimp, scallops, and other seafood cook for about 2 ½ -4 minutes for covered grilling and 6-8 minutes for uncovered grilling.

Vegetables such as asparagus, mushrooms, and leeks, takes 2-4 minutes to cook when cover-grilling and 3-5 minutes when grilling them uncovered. As for zucchini, carrots, fennel, and sweet peppers, 3-5 minutes is needed for cover-grilling and 6-10 minutes for uncovered grilling.

Although there is different recommended grilling time for various foods, the best gauge to use is still experience as no food weighs and shares the same qualities exactly the same way. Using the George Foreman Grill covered while grilling is suggested to those who want a shorter cooking time. By doing so, your food will nor only cook fast but will be able to retain more flavor and moisture.

Since grilling is the method used by the George Foreman Grill, there is no need to add any oil or fat to be able to enjoy a healthy and delicious meal. This is good news to all those who are watching their diet and would like to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
