Neighborhood Ocean, Newport’s destination cafe and seafood market, will carry some of its signature dishes to Portland this weekend.
Chef Enrique Sanchez-Rodriguez, who has cooked at the bayfront cafe considering the fact that it opened in 2005, will choose about Traveling Fish’s Chef Shack cart from 1 to 8 p.m. April 2 and 3. There, he will whip up Nearby Ocean favorites such as smoked black cod deviled eggs, teriyaki tuna kebabs and moqueca de peixe, a creamy Brazilian seafood stew.
Neighborhood Ocean, which purchases its seafood straight from area fishermen, was presently well recognized outside of Newport but built even more inroads into Portland through the pandemic. In 2020, proprietor Laura Anderson launched DockBox, a food package software that includes contemporary seafood and Local Ocean recipes with a weekly pickup option in Southeast Portland.
Flying Fish, a cafe and industry that we in contrast to Local Ocean in our guidebook to Portland’s best new dining places last year, introduced its Chef Shack in the restaurant’s parking ton in January, hoping to spotlight a different chef each individual month or so. Upcoming Chef Shack appearances include Eli Marroquin of Portland Pupusas y Taqueria on April 9 Mike Aldridge of Mid-Metropolis Smash Burger on April 16 and Don Salamone of Burger Stevens on Might 14.
Particulars: Capture Nearby Ocean chef Enrique Sanchez-Rodriguez cooking up some of the Newport restaurant’s signature dishes at Traveling Fish’s Chef Shack, 3004 E. Burnside St., from 1 to 8 p.m., April 2-3.
