What Are the Health Benefits You Can Get From Coffee?

Coffee and health are two concepts that are intertwined in an intriguingly manner. As more and more people become addicted to coffee, there are also more and more people who are being skeptical about the health benefits (and hazards as well) that can be derived from this ecstatic and aromatic beverage. So, what really are the health benefits that you can get from a cup of coffee? I will provide you with some of them so you will know what perks you can acquire while you enjoy your cup of coffee!

A popular health benefit that you can gain from coffee is the way that it gives you much antioxidants compared to other beverages. Coffee is actually hailed as the number one source of antioxidants in the American diet, and that alone is saying a lot. You are probably thinking what use are antioxidants to you. These antioxidants are useful to your body because they help out in fixing up the damage that has been done to your body. To be more elaborate, antioxidants are nutrients that lessen the oxidative damage that has been taken by the body. There are instances when our bodies use oxygen and they yield unwanted by-products that can cause harm. The antioxidants act as hunters to these by-products so they won’t cause any more harm. There are numerous illnesses that can be prevented with the help of antioxidants such as cancer and heart disease.

Coffee can also reduce the risk of diabetes. A study done on 2004 revealed that people who drink six or more cups a day have lesser chance to have type 2 diabetes. The study stated that men who drink that much amount of coffee are 50% less likely to have type 2 diabetes. Women, on the other hand, will be 30% less likely to have that type of diabetes if they consume the same amount of coffee in a daily basis. This means that coffee is really a great beverage to choose if you are prone to having diabetes of that type. Be warned, though, because there are variants of coffee served in coffee shops that are actually sugar-based and these should be avoided if you are watching your blood sugar levels.

There are really great things that you can gain just from drinking your cup of coffee, but you should know that you should drink coffee in moderation. This is because there will also be some disadvantages that will occur if you drink too much coffee. So drink coffee moderately and just enjoy the health benefits that may go with it!
