Wax Watergate Bay near Newquay named one of the country’s best restaurants for burgers

A restaurant in Cornwall has been named one of the UK’s top 30 “badass” burger joints.

WAX Watergate Bay, near Newquay, has been selected by StagWeb in their latest annual rundown.

The eateries included were chosen based off a variety of factors including the burgers themselves, range on offer, venue, value for money and the experience in general.

Here’s what StagWeb said about WAX: “We could wax lyrical for hours on end about how good these guys are and how highly we rate their stunning burgers, but we’ll give you a bitesize version otherwise you’ll be here for hours.

“They have seven superb burgers to choose from, a brilliant booze selection, plus enviable views you can’t get anywhere else in the country. Sound good? Yep, we think so, too.”

The restaurant has great reviews on TripAdvisor.

Aymanelswaf gave it five stars out of five and wrote: “Whilst me and my buddy were attempting to surf our girlfriends went to grab us food. They got a takeaway from Wax, we all had a chicken burger and chips.

“The burger was delicious, every single part of it. The brioche bun, the battered chicken, the relish and the chips. Would definitely recommend if visiting.”

Lilylulo commented: “My husband and I both had the Wax Burger with a side of onion rings and it was bloomin’ lovely! We sat outside but upstairs so our drinks came in glasses rather than the paper cups which you get downstairs. We watched the sunset and it would have been romantic if… we hadn’t had our child with us!

“She did however enjoy the kids wax burger and chocolate dough balls!! Staff were helpful and friendly. Just the perfect end to the holiday!”
